What is Happening Marketing?

Happening Marketing (HM) is the largest academic competition in Marketing in Eastern Canada, bringing together over 450 students. This bilingual competition challenges delegates to show their marketing intelligence, ingenuity, and their spirit. Students who compete at HM have the opportunity to do so in one of four categories: academic, sports, social, or participation. Each team is essential in creating Telfer’s impact in the world of marketing and in bringing home success.

Academic Cases

B2B Marketing

Marketing in the business world, also known as business-to-business (B2B),represents a constant challenge for companies seeking to maintain relationships with partners, competitors, customers and other stakeholders. Although complex to assess in quantitative terms, B2B remains undeniably one of the most crucial aspects. Its essence lies primarily in the establishment of positive, lasting business relationships with a variety of partners. This case study will examine the range of activities aimed at creating or strengthening these professional ties.

Experiential Marketing

Focused on promotion and advertising, experiential marketing aims to involve the consumer in a distinctive relationship with the brand. Representing a contemporary form of communications, the experiential approach seeks to invoke emotions and reactions in its audience. By placing originality at the heart of its strategy, this case offers the opportunity to establish or improve brand awareness and customer relations, thus creating added value for the product or service.

Strategic Marketing

Focused on defining concrete objectives and making informed decisions, strategic marketing involves in-depth analysis of a company's environment. The results obtained are used primarily to exploit the company's strengths, react rapidly to change, anticipate trends in the target market and increase long-term profitability. Often representing a significant investment for a company, this case aims to develop a long-term vision while establishing short-term objectives and the tactics needed to achieve them.

Request For Agency Proposal

The case simulates the typical experience in a marketing agency. The objective is to design a marketing campaign in a four-member team and present it to a panel of judges over the course of three rounds. Each team will have to outline the characteristics of its agency, including its mission, vision, objectives, etc., with the aim of winning the account. Skills in strategic thinking, advertising creation, media buying and placement will be put to the test. In preparation for Happening Marketing, teams will also be asked to develop a visual identity for their agency, including a logo and brand image.

HR Marketing

The employer branding HR Marketing Case is a strategic scenario designed to assess participants' ability to mobilize marketing tools and principles to meet the challenges of attracting and retaining talent. This type of case invites participants to develop creative, targeted strategies for building, strengthening and promoting an organization's employer brand.

Quiz

Quiz is a challenging competition that gives delegates the opportunity to put their marketing knowledge to the test. Inspired by the “genius in the making” format popular in high school, the emphasis is on quick thinking and teamwork. Delegates will focus on specific “academic marketing subjects”, such as logos, brands, slogans, data and so on. The quiz is made up of multiple-choice questions, true/false questions, short essay questions and long essay questions. This variety of question formats ensures a comprehensive and engaging challenge for all delegates.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is now an integral part of most offensive marketing strategies, and an indispensable asset for any company wishing to carve out its place in a market that's more competitive than ever. As the next generation of marketing innovation, it's essential to incorporate this aspect into Happening Marketing. This case will address the growing digital presence of companies. In other words, this case will cover various aspects such as the Internet, cell phone or tablet apps, referencing and consumer conversion. Digital insights will be at the heart of the digital strategy.

This marketing case is of vital importance to any company looking to introduce a new product or service to the market. This marketing strategy requires the creation of a comprehensive action plan to reach target customers and ensure a successful launch. The case may include competitor analysis, customer segmentation, communication strategy, pricing, distribution, international market entry, as well as setting up performance indicators to evaluate the success of the launch. Participants will be expected to develop a comprehensive and detailed strategy for the launch of their product or service, taking into account the particularities of the target market and demographic differences (cultural, economic, etc.).
